Icc Cricket World Cup 2023 Opener : England vs New Zealand Highlights !
New Zealand crushed defending champions England by 9 wickets in the opening match of the 2023 Cricket World Cup in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
Devon Conway was the star of the show for the Black Caps, scoring a magnificent 138 not out off 138 balls to lead his team to victory. Conway was in complete control throughout his innings, hitting 14 fours and 2 sixes.
Trent Boult was also in inspired form for New Zealand, taking 4 wickets for 31 runs. Boult bowled with great pace and accuracy, and he was able to exploit the conditions to his advantage.
England, on the other hand, had a disappointing day. Their batsmen were never really able to get going, and they were bowled out for 237 in 43.3 overs. Jason Roy was the only England batsman to offer any resistance, scoring a half-century.
New Zealand’s bowlers were excellent, with Tim Southee and Matt Henry picking up 2 wickets each.
In reply, New Zealand chased down the target with relative ease, reaching 238/1 in 41 overs. Conway and Kane Williamson put on a 122-run partnership for the first wicket, which set the platform for victory.
Williamson was eventually dismissed for 40, but Conway continued to bat with authority, and he saw New Zealand home with ease.
